Classed as a subcompact car, the Audi A5 has room
for four passengers. Due to its coupe configuration, the front seats
offer ample room for both driver and passenger while the rear two
seating positions are better used for short periods of time or for small
children. Trunk space is adequate, with 12.3 cubic feet available, and
10.4 still open when the roof is lowered on the cabriolet
version. The A5 offers a precise drive, thanks to the traction
of its all wheel drive system and the stiffness of its body, although
its relatively high weight and lightly powered four-cylinder engine can
give it a more sedate feel than other cars of its class. Audi includes a full range of safety technologies
in the 2012 A5. These include multiple air bags, anti-lock brakes and
advanced traction and stability control systems. A5 coupes and
cabriolets with the quattro all-wheel drive system also benefit from
enhanced grip and traction in all conditions, but especially in
inclement weather. Higher end A5's can also be optionally equipped with
both a blind-spot assist system as well as adaptive cruise control which
can even brake the car if necessary. The A5 ships with Audi's well-respected 2.0 liter
turbocharged four cylinder engine. It generates 211 horsepower and 258
pound-feet of torque, and can accelerate the car from 0 to 60 miles per
hour in as little as 6.2 seconds. Audi ships the all-wheel-drive coupe
with the choice of a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed
Tiptronic automatic transmission. Front wheel drive cabriolet A5's ship
with a CVT transmission, while quattro-equipped vehicles have the same
Tiptronic transmission as the coupe. |
